Greetings and welcome to my web site.  I've worked in the aerospace industry for 30+ years. I am an Aerospace Engineer, Music Lover, Guitar Player, and I restore and repair fretted and unfretted instruments.

As of Summer 2010, I am employed by a major aerospace company as a senior-level field-based quality engineer.  I have worked in a variety of disciplines at a variety of aerospace companies since 1974.  Click on the links menu to see some of these companies.
My Aerospace Career

The information presented herein represents the knowledge I have gained in 30+ years working in a variety of engineering disciplines (mostly Manufacturing/Process Engineering) in the Aerospace Industry.  I have borrowed photos from a variety of sources on the internet, and thank the owners for these various pictures.  The information presented on this site is presented free of charge solely for educational purposes.

There is a difference between a JET and a TURBOFAN engine.  In fact, Turbofans and Turboprops are more alike in their design and function than are Turbojets and Turbofans.  True jets were one of the first inventions leading to the current day turbofan.  They are inefficient at the amount of thrust they produce per amount of fuel used, so manufacturing of turbojets was phased out several years ago.  My primary experience is single spool and with multi-spool turbofans, and with the manufacture of parts used to make them. Although I do not claim to be an expert in ANYTHING, I do have knowledge of the workings of gas turbines and their construction.

My Assorted Hobbies
"TheGuitarMedic© (2006-2012)"
I have two or three hobbies.  Writing is one, but I won't cover that on this site, because I expect to pursue it after I retire (although I have begun writing a variety of children's books, technical books, and instructional books, as well as coffee-table books--all in various stages of completion).
The main hobby focused on here is playing, repairing, and restoring stringed instruments (fretted and unfretted). I have a music room and a repair shop, and I do a variety of repairs and restorations. I am still learning to play after all these years--but love doing so. Another hobby is photography, and some I don't count is collecting things (hats (caps), t-shirts (logo), and Hot Wheels©.

Stringed Instruments
As for stringed instruments, I have played various ones for nearly 50 years and in that time have gained some knowledge and experience that I hope to share here.  I also have published photos of my current instruments.  Some of the repair and restoration work is pretty intense. Some who might throw a guitar away should check with me first.

I play guitar, mandolin, and dulcimer (lap--not hammered). I still plan to learn violin. I do not read music, but I might be able to do so after I complete my lessons in Jamorama©--which I purchased on April 30, 2008.

Photography
The other hobby, as I mentioned, is photography.  I enjoy capturing a good scene.  My favorite types of photos are categorized on the photograpy hobby page.  Again, I am not an expert, but I've learned how to use my digital camera well enough to capture some interesting photos (I use an old 3.2 Megapixel Canon Powershot A75).  I hope you enjoy what I've shared here.
